Terms of Service

By creating an account or using Lit🔥Land ("the Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Platform. These Terms form a legally binding agreement between you and Literate Limited, a company registered in England and Wales ("we", "us", "our").

• You must be at least 13 years old to use the Platform as a student. Users aged 13–17 require parental or guardian consent.
• You must be at least 18 years old to register as a teacher.
• By using the Platform, you represent that you meet these requirements and that the information you provide is accurate.

The Platform supports three account types:

• Student — can book lessons, complete activities, and use AI tools.
• Teacher — can list themselves as available, accept bookings, create lessons, and receive payouts.
• Both — holds both student and teacher privileges simultaneously.

You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

If you register as a teacher, you agree to:

• Provide accurate information about your qualifications, experience, and teaching approach.
• Honour confirmed bookings or cancel with reasonable notice.
• Conduct sessions professionally and respectfully.
• Not engage in any off-platform arrangements that circumvent our payment system for sessions booked through the Platform.

We reserve the right to remove teacher listings or suspend accounts that violate these responsibilities.

The Platform includes AI tools for translation, language tutoring, and audio transcription powered by third-party AI providers (Anthropic Claude, OpenAI Whisper, ElevenLabs). You acknowledge that:

• AI outputs may contain errors and are not a substitute for professional advice.
• You are responsible for how you use AI-generated content.
• Audio you submit for transcription is processed by OpenAI and not retained after the transcription is returned.

You agree not to:

• Harass, threaten, or abuse other users.
• Impersonate another person or create fake accounts.
• Post or transmit illegal, harmful, or offensive content.
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Platform.
• Use the Platform to engage in fraud or to facilitate illegal activity.
• Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) to access the Platform without written permission.

Violations may result in immediate account suspension or termination.

You retain ownership of content you create on the Platform (lesson materials, messages, dictionary entries). By posting content, you grant Literate Limited a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to store, display, and deliver that content solely for the purpose of operating the Platform. We will not sell or licence your content to third parties without your consent.

All Platform software, design, trademarks, and brand assets (including the Lit🔥Land name and logo) are owned by Literate Limited. You may not copy, reproduce, or use them without our written permission.

You may delete your account at any time from your account settings. We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms, with or without notice depending on the severity of the breach. Upon termination, your access to the Platform ceases and we will delete your personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

The Platform is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Literate Limited is not liable for:

• The quality, accuracy, or suitability of any teacher's sessions.
• Errors or inaccuracies in AI-generated content.
• Any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from your use of the Platform.

Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for death, personal injury, fraud, or any liability that cannot be excluded under English law.

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or via an in-app notice. Your continued use of the Platform after the effective date of updated Terms constitutes acceptance.

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
